Ther Thiruvizha

Ther Thiruvizha, or the chariot festival, is an important cultural event that reflects the traditions and rituals associated with the worship of Goddess Mariamman, the deity of the temple. The centerpiece of the festival is the beautifully decorated chariot carrying the idol of Goddess Mariamman. Devotees pull the chariot through the streets in a display of devotion and celebration.  The procession is accompanied by traditional music, drums, and devotional songs, creating a lively and spiritually charged environment. Devotees often chant prayers and slogans in praise of the goddess. People from various backgrounds come together to participate in the Veethi Ula, reflecting a strong sense of community and shared faith. It is common to see families and friends gathering to witness and take part in the celebrations. Along the route, devotees may stop to make offerings at various shrines, enhancing the spiritual significance of the procession. Offerings can include flowers, fruits, and other items dedicated to the goddess.
